scroll wheel has two functions, vertical and horizontal scrolling.
Click (depress) scroll wheel to toggle between vertical and
horizontal scrolling.
You might have to install Kensington Mouseworks to effect this toggle.

I'm using my fav ADB Datadesk Switchboard (left-handed people are
in their right mind), and a Kensington USB Mouse (optical, two
buttons, scroll wheel). No kensington software installed.
For the 2nd time now, I've lost control of the system! Couldn't
type letters into windows. cmd-w etc didn't close windows.
Basically, the keyboard stopped working. Then I noticed menus not
dropping as quickly as normal when I use the left mouse button.
But they're fast for the right mouse button. And when I use the
scroll wheel, things scroll horizontally not vertically???!!!
What did I do to cause this?
The only way to clear it I've found is to actually shutdown and
reboot... ???!!! :(
