You may be pressing the keys for slightly longer than you think. Go to
System Preferences and open up Keyboard and Mouse (or Keyboard,
depending upon the OS you are using). Click on the keyboard tab. You
should see two settings, Key Repeat Rate and Delay Until Repeat. Set
the Delay Until Repeat to a slightly longer time. Set it to short if it
is currently set to off, or go 1 stop closer to Long if it is set to
something else. This should cure it.
It is not how hard you type, but how long the key is depressed that
causes double letters and many of todays keyboards have such light
springs under the keys that you may not realize that you are pressing
the key down.

the key. I probably type lightly all left-hand keys. Do I need to
