Howdy

Here's a stupid user trick...

I was in the middle of installing a scsi card and drive into a b&w G3. I had the panel down. Suddenly nature called and I went off to answer.

Meanwhile, one of my local rugrats sees the confuser "free" and decides to power it up. Said rugrat was carrying a glass of icewater.

Yup. I think you can fill in the rest of the story.

The under-coordinated munchkin, in the process of seating, lost control of the glass and spilled a bit of water and a couple of cubes onto the panel/motherboard.

At first I wasn't too concerned. At least it wasn't some sugar loaded concoction. After drying up the water et al, the poor G3 managed to power up. For awhile. Then the grey display in forty-eleven languages popped up stating that I needed to press the reset key. Oh, Oh...

Since then, it will power up for a brief period before the G3 freezes up and asks to be reset.

The water landed primarily in the memory card slots/fire wire port area. It still rolls over and plays dead with all the pci cards removed, save the video card.

Any ideas of what may have taken the hit? (Or is this a good excuse to upgrade to a 2.5g quad core?)

Thanks

Mark
