I have seen this piece of misinformation so many times...
To check a battery you must check the AMPERAGE, not the voltage. A
battery tester is needed for this. Some multimeters include one.
Checking the voltage of a battery is like checking the temperature of
the water coming out of your faucet: A thermometer will tell you how
hot the water is, but won't tell you how much pressure you have.
