Dear G-List:

I have a small home network which includes a Power Mac G4 (OS 10.4.2),
a Powerbook G4 (10.4.2), and a beige G3
(10.3). All of these Macs are linked through a D-Link DI-624 router.
The Power Mac G4 is my main Mac which is also
set up as a web server. The beige G3 is set up as an experimental
machine. My question is: If I want to access the beige
G3 on my home network remotely, how do I do this?

Define "access," because the the answer will depend on how you want to
access it. Also, define "remotely."

Daniel,

Thanks for your response.

I want to be able to access files on the beige G3 from outside my home. I
can easily do this through my Power Mac G4 by way of VNC, Terminal, and
SharePoints.

Sorry, I don't know anything about sharing files over Internet, especially if you have to go through an intermediate machine as you do today. You could do it for VNC and SSH, but I don't know that you could do it for AFP, and quite frankly I'm not sure I would suggest that anyway, unless AFP is encrypted. (But I seem to recall that it isn't encrypted.)

Good luck.

Daniel
