I have OS 9 ified my dock, and it is even more useful that tearing off
the running applications menu from 9.

I have it set to:

Size: just a notch above small
Location: Right
Magnification at about 40%

This takes up about 3/8" strip on the far right side of the screen. Why
did Apple standardize on the dock on the bottom? Most people have
landscape monitors, not portrait, and have more screen real estate left
and right as opposed to top and bottom.

Yes, good points Len. I have played about a bit with this and like it when smaller. Unsure of the position I want. My screen is quite big and while I appreciate your argument about landscape and putting it to side, I keep putting it back to bottom because the trash is low down as it always was (by default) in earlier OSs! Though if it is made big and on the right or bottom, the trash goes roughly to where it used to be in 9 and 8 and 7 and 6.... But then the dock is too ugly for my taste)

There seems no way to "uncentre" the dock? This correct? I'd like to move it ("set small") to bottom right or maybe even right bottom.

Minor matters I guess.
