Well, it's possible that the card is:

-Dead
-A 4x that will not run at 2x
-Not seated all the way in

The first one, well, all you can do is rummage through it's pockets and look for change

The last, check it again and make sure it's in all the way.

The 4x part... That would possibly require taping of some 'pins' on the edge connector. That, I don't have the info on.

What kind of card is it anyway?  Any part numbers on it?
