My G4 Sawtooth (my first of such models) gives me fits when trying to do a
new install of Panther.
During the second phase (preparing and writing the Base System), it almost
completes the writing of part 2 Base System when the install collapses and I
get an error message "Installation as failed - reboot and try again" with a
restart button.
I suspect it's the old incompatible OS-X RAM problem, a confirmation or
other possibilities appreciated.
Pull a DIMM and retry?
Clean the DVD.
Make sure all 3rd party cards and peripherals are removed.
