I may as well jump on the bandwagon.. I have a friend that bought my old
gigabit board without the power supply and was pointed to the standard few
sites to to build one.. but so far he has blown 2 24 volt wallwarts.. They
seem to work for a few minutes and then not..

My guess is the board is somehow feeding voltage back into the wallwart and
frying it..

Could one use a power module from a b&w to power the 24/28 volt circuitry??

Any ideas why or how the external wallwart would be killed??

The PMU constantly draws from the 28v line, on or off.  Assuming 
you're not using ADC or firewire, there are no other additional draws 
on that circuit.
