Good to see the positive responses on the USB sticks for wireless devices. But I posed a question a few days ago with no responses

hum. I don't seem to have it; what was your original subj?

as to whether anyone has tried with any success the Mac-compatible wireless 802.11b USB card sticks? Like, say this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5852987177&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT

These sound interesting.

We've been contemplating adding a WAP recently. Had a few here over the past year for testing. Now we're thinking it would be nice to be able to use a an older laptop in the living room or out on the porch. Don't want to run more cat5...

My housemate bought a noname usb device of this type for use on his Dell laptop, while he travels. It works. But the connections are never as high-quality (fast, stable) as its hype led him to believe. In fact, they're so fritzy that for his trip to CES, he found his cell phone/modem hookup was usually faster.

That particular auction ... maybe I missed it, but exactly what make and model device is this guy selling? He spams a lot of company names (which is against eBay rules), but I can't find the actual product's manufacturer?!
