Powermac G4 Quicksilver 800.
256Mb Ram, a cute Seagate Barracuda 40Mb HDD, the original video card (an ATI), an optical drive, and a (as tol by the guy) G4 800 proc.

plug it in, push the power button, button goes bright, PS, case“s fan cooler and CPU fan cooler spins, then when I get my finger our of the power button, it goes dark again, fans spin down and remain shut. Nothing on screen, no other noises heard.

SOP for a machine just shipped to you:

Replace the PRAM Battery.
Re-seat connectors, especially the ones from the power supply.
Re-seat the DIMMs.
Re-seat the video card.
Connect only keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Hit the boot button.

IF no BONG at all, pull HD cable, retry. Reseat processor. Pull DIMMs - if no breaking glass sound, then look at processor and power supply.

IF BONG, look on to dealing with video and HD issues...

Get the tech doc for your Mac and follow its troubleshooting steps...

And, of course, ObGroundingReligiousArg: Make sure you're properly grounded for all of the above. ...I just got off the phone with a client that is upset because Kensington shipped him *six* dead DIMMs in a row. Guess what he wasn't doing?
