Greetings!

I am VERY afraid the memory thing would NOT work up properly.
As Apple states on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html? artnum=58007 , the maximum RAM they can guarantee to work is 256Mb.

In several iMacs it IS possible to get them to aknowledge a 256Mb So- dimm on the lower socket and a 128 one on the upper one, and in even fewer and rarer ones, a whooping 512 using 256 in each socket.

In my case, however, I do have an iMac 333 Rev. D, and could only put 256Mb total, a 128Mb So-dimm in each slot.

Still, I use my iMac 333 (Orange) for web, email, network monitoring apps and office apps (NeoOffice, proudly NOT a single Microsoft product in years!!), smmoothly. Maybe not lightning fast, but fairly enough to keep me working without hassle.

I´d strongly suggest checking LowEnd´sMac report on this at: http:// www.lowendmac.com/imacs/imac-d.shtml where they state:

"* The exact amount a Rev. A-D iMac can be upgraded varies from unit to unit. We have field reports of some models accepting 256 MB modules in both memory socket and reaching 512 MB - and other reports of early iMacs that won't work at all with 256 MB modules. There appears to be no way to know in advance whether a particular iMac will work with a certain sized memory module."

I'm looking at some G3 333 imacs for a chemistry lab. Does anyone know if you can use windows keyboards and mice with a ps-2 to usb converter for these machines? Also, can the RAM be upgraded to 512 MB? Applespecs say
they will only take 2 128 MB RAM chips.

1.) The Windows keyboards and mice won't likely work with a PS2 to USB
converter. However, cheap USB keyboards can be found many places.

2.) Yes, you can run 256MB SO-DIMMs in Rev. D iMacs (G3 333). However, they have to be the right kind. Wegener Media has the right ones, and they are offering them for $40.50/piece. http://www.wegenermedia.com/ imacram.htm

Good luck,
