O.K. The "Nuke & repave" seemed to do the trick.
It didn't go smoothly --- I.E. I ended up using Xpostfacto to run the
install. Still haven't run the 10.2.6 & 10.2.8 updates or the Sec.
updates. That'll be tomorrows task.
But I have the FINDER back. The important thing.
