CPU Director will let you shut it off if you'd like to try

Len, I'd be interested in the results if you do such a benchmark. I'd
like to
learn that I'm not missing much without the L3s.
This is going to entail some more work. I installed CPU Director (CPUD)
and it shows the L3 cache enabled. I disabled it and ran xBench, and
here is where it gets interesting. With the L3 turned off in CPUD,
xBench still shows a L3 cache.
CPU tests 20% HIGHER with no L3 cache
Memory tests 25% lower with no level 3
Quartz Graphics 30% lower no L3
User interface 40% lower no L3
Disk test almost no difference
