I tried with Firmare update 2.4 & 4.18 Both won't go. Held the button down until the end of the long beep, and then tried at the start of the beep. Everytime I got a message say it didn't work. In thje read me it said I would see a message onscreen, never anything
Did you run the update from the HD? You can't run it off the CD. Did you run the update in Mac OS 9.1 or later, _not_ Classic? I ran it in 9.2.1, off the HD...still no go I finally was able to get the firmware update working. A friend gave a spare G4 400 CPU, popped it in an everythings jake :-) Thanks to those who replied...........
