Subject: [G] OT: Advice concerning software legalities
Hi All,
You have all been helpful in the past. I hope someone can help me now.
The
short story is that I bought a Mac with software installed on it. I
don't buy
illegal or pirated software.
I've seen Student/Teacher versions, upgrade versions, older
(supposedly good)
versions with upgrade versions in the same box, etc.
I think this is of interest to many folks on the list.
You have no rights to using Student/Teacher versions unless you are a
student or teacher. You can buy/use regular used and upgrade versions
and rightfully assume that the software has been removed from the
computers on which they had been installed or the computers just died.
Macintosh user groups sometimes have garage sales where you may be able
to find what you want.
