Easier yet, you can just drag the Applications folder down beside the trash can and it'll do the same thing. I've been using this method
since 10.1.

Because with your way you get a big long _unorganized_ list of applications that you have to scroll through alphabetically.

With my way I only have to see 4 or 5 applications per category.

Now, I can understand that _for you_ seeing a giant list is not a problem - you can probably zip right to the application you want without even thinking about it. But I can't. I'm dyslexic and sometimes I can't even remember the name of the application I want. I have to first think like, "What does this application I'm thinking of do?...", and locate the category it belongs in. Then I start looking at the names/icons of the applications and select the one I want.

Plus, I never have to see the applications I never use (but still have "just in case"). I almost never play chess - but it's on my machine if I want to. I don't need Internet Connect at home - but if I ever took my machine on a long trip I'd need it. I can't use iChat with our satellite modem - but the phone company is promising DSL in our area "sometime soon"...

So all these applications I never use are THERE, but I don't have to see them.
