1. It may be of interest to some list readers that Gregory L. Doudna has posted an article, "4QpesherNahum and the Teacher of Righteousness." He says that the teacher was Hyrcanus II.
http://www.bibleinterp.com/articles/Doudna_TeacherofRighteousness.htm I think this is not the case, for a variety of reasons that could be discussed, should it be of interest here or should Dr. Doudna respond on either list (ane or g-megillot). For a recent review of his book, $QPesher Nahum: A Critical Edition (JSPSup 35, Sheffield, 2001), see Timothy H. Lim in J. for the Study of the Old Testament 27.5 (2003) 164-5. 2. In my view, evidence is increasing that the teacher was Judah the Essene (mentioned in Josephus War 1.78f and Antiquities 13.311f); the "wicked priest," Alexander Jannaeus. best, Stephen Goranson _______________________________________________ g-Megillot mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mailman.McMaster.CA/mailman/listinfo/g-megillot
