Today's Ha-aretz refers to the excavations of Yuval Peleg and Itzhak Magen unearthing luxury items at Qumran, thus showing the inhabitants to be not poor and therefore not Essene. While this line of reasoning may be simplistic, I assume the find itself is news, or did I miss something?
