Dear friends
I'm sorry to tell you, that Prof. John C. Trever (born 1915) died at Saturday morning 29th of April. He is one of the heroes in the Qumran studies. He was one of the first scholars to identify the famous Isaiahscroll (1QJesA - today in the Shrine of the book) during his time 1948 at the Albright Institute in Jerusalem. He was the scholar who did the tremendous pictures of the Isaiahscroll, which are published in nearly every book about the Dead Sea Scrolls. He was one of the early heroes of the Qumranstudies and published his adventrues with the Dead Sea Scrolls in his still today wonderful readable books [like: The Dead Sea Scrolls: A Personal Account - rev. ed.; Piscataway: Gorgias Press, 2003 (facsimile reprint of the original edition published by arrangement with the Fleming H. Revell Company, 1965), deutsch: Das Abenteuer von Qumran]. Please inform the scholary DSS-world about his death and if possible write an article about this famous scholar for your journals and newsagencies as well as newspapers. If you need pictures of Prof. Trever and the Isaiahscroll we can send you them for a report about his death. Somesampleare encluded! On behalf for the Family of John C.
