Joe, what is your evidence for the adult male well-ordered
part of the cemetery (a) having burials
from the 1st century CE before 68 CE, and (b) none in
the 1st century CE after 68 CE, and (c) from throughout
1st century BCE?
Rather than assert "a" and "b" and "c" and say they stand until
disproven, would it not be better to say these are unestablished
conjectures and unproven until one or more of these is proven?
But if you concede these are unestablished conjectures, this returns
to the question of what theories are excluded or not excluded for
e.g. 1st CE Qumran both pre- and post-68, or all of 1st BCE Qumran,
on the basis of the cemetery?
Next, do you assume most or all of the well-ordered adult male
burials in the cemetery represent individuals who died at the site,
as distinguished from brought there for burial after
having died elsewhere? Do you have evidence for such an
assumption (whatever your answer is)? How might this
affect conclusions that can be drawn concerning the nature
of the site?

>In response to Greg Doudna questions about the dating of the Qumran
cemetery:
He asks, "To which period or periods of Qumran does this Essene cemetery
of adult males apply ..." ? My 'good natured' reply. Until proven
otherwise, based on the available data, nearly all the males excavated so
far, are from the First century BC to 68 AD.
