I have that model G5, it doesn't use a 'carrier'; it use 4 special screws in the bottom holes. The oversize head of these screws slides into the G5's drive bay clips. Just swap the screws from the stock drive. I use a Sony Q28A which is recognized as an Apple-shipped SuperDrive.
