You might want to check out "AppCleaner", which is a app that you can  
use to completely remove any given app you might want to get delete.

It's the best I've ever used!

As of iWorks, your pushing it use based on the Mac you have... you  
might try a earlier version but I don't think it's going to help that  
much.

If you were using iWorks on a Mac such as a Dual 1GHz PowerPC  
"Quicksilver 2002" or later... you would find iWorks 8 fast and  
enjoyable. As are as the learning curve, I would say about a week or  
so and once you have set up your personnel collection of templates,  
which is a one time action...iWorks becomes second nature!
