Did an install to an empty partition, of OSX.4.x, upgraded to 4.11,  
and thru Sec Upd 2008-005.

This installation does NOT exhibit the 'Error Message' on Network  
Screen problem.

So using Migration Assistant, moved EVERYTHING, for the MDD dual  
1.25, and the MDD dual 1.0 to separate accounts -- which now do not  
exhibit the 'Error Message on Network Screen problem' ---

So that cures the problem, right!  Not quite.

Using the account based on the MDD 1.0 --->  Mail works OK

Mozilla works
Firefox works
Webkit -- can't find Internet connection.
Safari  -- can't find Internet connection.

Using account based on MDD 1.25

Same symptoms

Using new (install) account

Mail needs setup
otherwise, same symptoms.
