Tech guru Leo Laporte has mentioned this very issue on many of his shows.
He has even done it himself, although his cleaning solution was to use the
dishwasher (who knew keyboards would be dishwasher safe?).  In any case,
he's always recommended the longest drying period possible, in excess of 5
days, or more.
