Yes, with nothing concrete as a result. Some do it, yes, but I found no reports of a known problem or anything like that. > It sounds like there might be something wrong on the mobo. I've inspected it as closely as I can without stripping down the machine, and it looks fine. Pretty clean for a 3yo machine, in fact. No sign of any blown or failing capacitors or anything. However, remarkably enough, I am very happy to say that Apple has agreed to fix it for me. Apparently there was a warranty extension programme on these machines, mine was in the range of affected serial numbers, and although the extension ended in May this year, they've agreed to an exception.
