Hi all,

Bought an external drive case with firewire (Azio brand) to help
transfer files between my Toshiba XP laptop and various Macs. The
Maxtor 40GB HD inside it has been formatted as FAT32 via OS X 10.4's
Disk Utility and has absolutely no problems working with my various G3
and G4 Macs, but the Toshiba laptop is another story.

When hooked up via firewire to the laptop, the Toshiba's main hard
drive can't open applications until the firewire drive is
disconnected. It's almost like the main hard drive gets confused when
the firewire drive is connected.

I have the firewire drive set as master because that's what the
enclosure instructions said to do, but I'm thinking this might be
causing problems with my XP machine? Like I said, all of my Mac
machines work perfectly with it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Steve Phipps
