From what I can tell (*), iTunes gets those names not from the CD but from the Gracenote CDDB database (online). It seems like iTunes is having problems talking to that database. Not sure why - it could be something is broken in 8.0.2 or it could be a 'net or database server issue. ...One would think iTunes would only reach out to the database if the names weren't already on the CDs! I know they are, on at least some of mine, because my regular 12 yro CD Player shows the artist and track name in its display window! But iTunes shows them ALL with generic names. :\ According to the iTunes help, if it cannot access that database, it gives you those "Track n" monikers and will update them when it can. But so far, I've not had it update any! I'm still foolin around with this... (*) I'm kindof an iTunes newbie still, but learning fast.
