This is a strange one. After doing all the below, I am guessing it is
pram battery related. I had a power failure at work and the date went
back in time so I have a pram battery on order from OWC that should
be here soon.

I have a DA with a modded (pins 3 and 11 taped) genuine Mac, not a
flashed pc, Radeon 9600 Pro driving my monitor. I also had a pci Rage
128 installed as an emergency back up in case of problems with the
modded card.

I pulled the Rage to put into a Sawtooth that I was setting up. On
the next start up of my DA, I got no video from the AGP Radeon, but a
completely normal start up and then shut down by keyboard commands.
Tried resetting pram and even pressing the cuda, but still no video
out on the AGP Radeon. I have not reset the openfirmware.

Put the Rage back in and started up off that with regular video out.
Immediately shut down, hooked the monitor up to the Radeon leaving
the Rage installed and got normal video out on the Radeon.

Shut down, pulled the Rage and restarted with no problems and video
out on the Radeon.

This has happened three days in a row. Today, same thing. Normal
startup, just no video out on the Radeon. As a test, I installed the
Rage card, but left the monitor hooked up to the AGP Radeon. With the
pci Rage installed, but nothing hooked up to it, I got a normal
startup with video out on the Radeon.

Thanks,
Len

Scanning the System.log in console, I don't see any errors related to
video, but I am including the possible error messages that I can make
out from the log:

From first start up with no Rage installed and no video out on the
Radeon:
