If you want to share files it's possible to create a group that can 
include both of you. That way you can set privileges on separate 
files and directories so that specific ones can share execute, read, 
and write access by setting the group access bits.

I confess I do it with shell commands  chmod, chgrp, and the like but 
I'm pretty sure it can be done with Apple's GUI too, Netinfo, perhaps.
