If you don't know the password, boot from your OS X installer CD and select Change Password from the Installer menu (it may say 'Change Administrator's Password'...it's been a long time since I saw that menu.) A sure fire way to not ever have to do this again is to NOT have the system boot automatically into your account, but have it make you log on. When you use the password more often, you don't forget it.
