Crossover cables for Macs were "de rigueur" during the beige days, but using
standard straight-through E-Net cables has been with us since the iMac G4s
and contemp. Towers/laptops, maybe earlier. Connecting to a PC is an
OS-specific situation, iirc, but if the PC in question is running XP, you
should be okay.
