Hi George: Hmmm, someone answered your keyboard question that you posted today, but nobody picked up on this one from yesterday. So I'll ask a few questions and say a few things just to try moving the ball along. Sometimes, when I say something stupid, someone else will pitch in to fix it.

DVD, external hard drive? About the "transfer," did you engage Migration Assistant? Were you upgrading from one version of OS X to another, like 10.4 to 10.5? Or just staying at the original version, after updating to your previous level, like installing 10.5.1 going to 10.5.6? An Archive and Install is supposed to move the old system folder out of the way, then you may need to reset a few settings. Nothing else is supposed to transfer anywhere. The Users folder(s) stays untouched. There should be no need to use Migration Assistant. > > Can I move the user files to the new system and accomplish the same > thing? With my understanding above, I do not understand this question. > If so, is there an easier way than unlocking all the folders > and adding myself as a user. The files won't currently move. Why, how are all the folders locked? Accounts, password problem? Hope this helps a little bit.
