Hi,

After my BenQ DVD-writer wouldn't write to 16-speed DVD-Rs anymore I
bought a Pioneer DVR-116D as it is seen by Macs as a "native" drive.

I tried flashing its firmware today on the PC of a friend, the FW on
the drive was 1.04 and the latest Pioneer FW was 1.09. But the
flashing wouldn't work, the program told me to eject the disk when
there wasn't a disk in it and when we tried to flash it with the tray
out it wouldn't work either.

Anybody of you know anything about this prob? I'd also patch the FW
with MCSE to get the drive region-free. Any hints and suggestions are
very welcome. TIA.

My Mac is the latest version of the MDD running the latest versions of
Panther and Tiger with 2 gigs of RAM.

Regards, Jörg.
