WebKit is the engine (a shared library/framework) that Safari uses to render web pages. Apple owns Safari. WebKit is open source, and Apple contributes to it. The problem is that Apple is so far behind updates,,, the version they've given you in OS X is old old old. The latest WebKit is MUCH faster and more web-standards compliant. To use it, just download a nightly build and treat it like any 3rd party browser. WebKit.app will automatically run the normal Safari shell, but just point it to the new WebKit. To compare, run the Acid3 test from each browser you use. <http://acid3.acidtests.org/> - Dan. -- - Psychoceramic Emeritus; South Jersey, USA, Earth --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
