"Cons: not really that useful. I think you can't use it for usb to firewire converting, and I don't suggest to anyone even try that out. Also that purple color could be something else. " Basically this is for powering a FW device from a USB port. Charging a FW-only iPod from a USB port is about the only possible use for it. It is NOT a conversion cable.
