To stop the USB madness, just don't connect the USB cable on the DVI side. As for using one with an ADC port, I suppose if you were to dissect an ADC cable and cut the USB-supporting lines in it, (the wires connected to pins 21, 22, and 23) this should accomplish the same thing.
