The 4416S, 6416S and 8424S drives from Yamaha were the very best CD  
burners then available, and were among the first to offer packet  
writing, which was a requirement for backing up to CD using Retrospect.

I still have an 8424S in my Beige Minitower, but I also have the  
original IDE drive, which is the one which is bootable.

The applications support the Yamaha pretty well.
