You need to go into System Preferences / Startup Disk and set the startup drive. Zapping the PRAM or having a bad PRAM battery will clear out this information. If it's not set the computer goes through a sequence of potential startup devices, whether they are there or not. We had a B&W that took a minute or two to find the boot drive when the PRAM was zapped. The machine had three SCSI controllers and at least one was a wide SCSI which means it had to check and wait for 29 SCSI devices before it got around to the IDE drive. -- Clark Martin Redwood City, CA, USA Macintosh / Internet Consulting "I'm a designated driver on the Information Super Highway" --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
