I think you meant "RS-232" instead of "RS-323"?

I've got a Belkin F5U216 Dockstation for PC laptops that I've used as
a multi-functional USB 2.0 adapter/hub etc. This unit has two standard
RS-232 serial ports that use the FTDI chipset. FDTI provides OS X
extensions for Panther 10.3.9 and newer, including separate versions
for PPC & Intel. I haven't really had any reason to use these serial
ports, but I assume they'd work? I do know the extensions load
properly at startup and the two serial ports are shown in System
Profiler in both 10.4.11 and 10.5.6 of a PPC G5. The OS X software for
FDTI chipset adapters is available here:
<http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm>

Here's what I see in System Profiler:

Belkin Serial Adapter:

   Product ID: 0x6001
Vendor ID: 0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
   Version: 4.00
   Serial Number: 01B746M3
   Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
   Manufacturer: Belkin
   Location ID: 0x4b312000
   Current Available (mA): 500
   Current Required (mA): 50
