Recently, one of our list members inquired about iTunes inability to 
add .mp3 files to his library.

It is confusing, but pretty easy.

Launch iTunes
Go to Preferences
Select ADVANCED

Find the window where the path to your iTunes music is located. 
iTunes makes this easy, but it helps if you know in advance where the 
.mp3 files are.
Highlite all of the tunes in your iTunes library and then tell iTunes 
to ADD TO LIBRARY.
