I think with older machines, the external bluetooth adapters work with
limited success. I also had this problem with a G4 tower, and it also
caused kernel panics. I think I had an iogear one, though. There was
another bluetooth module I found that worked a lot better; I don't
remember what it is offhand, since my current iMac has built-in
bluetooth. All I remember was that it was oblong and red; like a
capsule. maybe someone else knows what I'm talking about. I think it
just depends on the bluetooth module itself. If the eMac you have has
the plugin for an internal Apple one, I would try to get one on eBay,
if it does support that it should work a lot better.
