This must be frustrating.... Along with a ZAP of the PRAM, I suggest a low level reset. Forgive me if you already know this, but here is the sequence:
1. ZAP the PRAM as already directed in a previous post. 2. On the 3rd chime, quickly switch your fingers to hold down Command+Option + O + F. You will be taken to a command line interface where you will type at the prompt: reset-defaults (return) reset-all Your Mac will reboot.
