I've shipped my HP LaserJet via UPS from west coast to east coast, then travelled with it in a VW van on the floor over hundreds of miles of gravel roads and not one problem. I was using the original shipping box and spacers that came with the printer, and with the cartridge out. Then as I was carrying it into another room after I had just printed off some files, I hit the door jam. Now I have streaks where I didn't have before, probably because I hadn't taken the cartridge out. If you don't have the original shipping box, I'd suggest removing the cartridge (double back a black garbage bag to keep the light out) and also using some painter's tape to hold down anything that might move on the printer, inside and out.
