Ever wonder how to get some of the bells and whistles of an Apple USB/
wireless mouse on a 3rd-party mouse like the Kensington SlimBlade w/
nano adapter.... - especially the 3rd button functionality...?

The trick is...

Use any Apple mouse to bring up the special mouse function choices and
set them using the Keyboard/Mouse preference pane...

Set the 3rd button functionality to whatever you want, test it with
the 3-party mouse (it works just like the Apple mouse)...

Then disconnect or turn off the Apple mouse and - VOILA!

The 3rd-button functionality is now yours....
