Use any web browser to access:

http://localhost:631/

This should show you the CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) which is
the OS X system printing software. If get an error message, CUPS is
offline and not working. You can try restarting CUPS by going to
Applications>Utilities>Terminal and in a Terminal window type each of
these commands followed by a Return:

sudo killall cupsd
sudo cupsd
After typing these, close Terminal and try http://localhost:631/
again. If you see the CUPS page, your printing is back online and you
should be able to print now. If not, you'll need to reinstall CUPS.
You can get CUPS installer package at:
ftp://www.cups.org/pub/cups/1.2.12/cups-1.2.12.dmg
If your CUPS is working, and you can access http://localhost:631/, but
you still can't print, you may need to add the printer again, or
worse, install all the Epson software again. This is what you're
trying to needlessly avoid, and I hope this advice on CUPS will solve
your issue without needing to reinstall everything.
