Can someone please tell me what painfully > obvious failure point I'm overlooking here? This is a non-trivial physical device in the physical world and all of those will break, eventually. Even solid state electronics have a finite lifespan, even if we have no idea when they're going to die. The Law of Thermodynamics is a harsh mistress, and she always gets her way. As to what caused it? Some flaw in the material or design eventually gave way under the right circumstances and shorted something out or broke, so your signals no longer flow. This isn't just a bunch of wires, there is actual signal conversion circuitry in there that can fry eventually. There are wires that can corrode and break over time. Hope you can find another one, or replace that ADB device with a USB one. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
