Can you launch Installer independently of the package by double-
clicking the Installer.app icon in the Utilities folder? (note, in
10.5 they moved Installer.app from the Applications>Utilities folder
to the System>Library>CoreServices folder).

If it won't launch, the easiest fix would be to copy over the working
version of Installer.app from the MDD to the Quicksilver.

The correct version of Installer.app for 10.4.11 is v.2.1.9(104). This
is an incremental update from the version installed by the 10.4
Installer DVD. I know this because the 10.4.11 PPC Combo Update's
Installer.app files are only 522kB while the Installer.app is 5.2MB in
size. This means there's no easy place to locate the "latest version"
to extract with Pacifist, but rather you'd need to both extract and
update, a real hassle. Much easier to grab a working copy from another
fully updated 10.4.11 Mac.

If Installer.app does launch, what happens when you select the problem
package to install?

One last thought, if you're having any other issues on the
Quicksilver, it never hurts to reinstall the 10.4.11 PPC Combo Update,
a "cure all" solution for various problems that may occur.
