I hate to stir up a tempest but another way Apple upsets people is
price control and high prices. I am retired. I recently wanted to buy a new
computer and very badly wanted a new Apple. I couldn't afford the one I
wanted and the one I could,a Mac mini, offered much less in technology and
price. I didn't want buy a used or refurbished computer. I couldn't find
any End Of Life's in my area.For $599,I bought a Dell desktop,4 gig ram,5oo
gig hard drive, intel core duo with Windows Home Vista Premium ,64 bit.It
came with new speakers, keyboard, mouse, printer and 19 inch monitor.Admittedly
the monitor, mouse, keyboard and printer might have been last year's model but
they all work with 64 bit. When you have been waiting 10 years to buy a new
computer and are retired,a good deal has to be part of the decision. Apple
has to work on this area.
I am now looking for a G5 desktop with Leopard at a local computer
show at Gibralter Trade Center or on Craig's List.I still want another Apple
with Leopard on it but will have to wait. I prefer Apple. Apples prices are
no higher than Windows in somethings but the price controls make the
difference.
