IIRC, that and gmail's default setting for replies to be top posted were the main reasons for the change. So please try to bottom post, but if you can't, don't worry. The Nanny Inquisition will not get you for it. But you may not get all the help that the list has to offer either. Uncertain if you should top or bottom post on a particular message? Read what you are about to post as if you just stumbled across your posting in the archives 2 years from now. Read the post from top to bottom and ask yourself, "Does this make sense?". With top posting, most often the answer is no. That is why top posting is discouraged.
